Guatemala
I’m running the London Marathon to support Health Poverty Action tackle global health injustice. In Guatemala, vast disparities exist between the Indigenous Maya and non-Indigenous populations, HPA stands with Indigenous Maya K’iche’ and Maya Mam women to reduce maternal and newborn mortality by building relationships between state health services and indigenous communities. Support me in running the London Marathon by advocating to make healthcare more accessible and culturally appropriate! #HealthJustice #TeamHPA25
Namibia
I’m running the London Marathon 2025 to support Health Poverty Action’s work in Namibia, where stark inequalities impact health outcomes and access for the marginalised San communities. Namibia is the second most unequal country in the world, San people face a high burden of disease, most worryingly, multi-drug-resistant TB. HPA partners in research to build local laboratory capacity and improve early diagnosis and effective management of TB cases. Let’s support this crucial work together! #HealthJustice #TeamHPA25
Rwanda
I’m proud to support Health Poverty Action’s work in Rwanda by running the 2025 London Marathon. While Rwanda has made strides toward gender equality since the genocide (1994), violence against women remains endemic, alongside lower employment, and limited educational access compared to men. HPA helps survivors of gender-based violence find safe, stable work. Every step I take in the marathon is for this powerful cause! #HealthForAll #TeamHPA25
Somaliland
Running the London Marathon to support Health Poverty Action in Somaliland, where drought and high levels of gender-based violence continue to affect lives. Almost all women aged 15-49 have experienced female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C). HPA’s work with local authorities helps establish early warning systems for extreme weather, and supports over 26,000 women to give birth attended by skilled health workers. Join me in making a difference! #HealthJustice #TeamHPA25
Myanmar
I’m training for the London Marathon and fundraising for Health Poverty Action’s work in Myanmar, where ongoing conflict and rising living costs are posing significant risks and harming people’s health. HPA supports health workers, trains volunteers, and provides outreach services to marginalised communities. Last year, HPA screened over 25,000 children for malnutrition, and support those who were identified as malnourished to access additional food support. Together, we can support the right to food and health across Mynamar! #HealthJustice #TeamHPA25
Kenya
I’m excited to run for Health Poverty Action, they work in Kenya, supporting communities stand up against inequality, patriarchy, and female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C). HPA’s local teams engage pastoralist communities in conversations about sexual and reproductive health and addressing gender-based violence. Every mile I run in the London Marathon 2025 is for this important work. #HealthJustice #TeamHPA25
Laos
I’m running the London Marathon to support Health Poverty Action’s work in Laos, where ethnic minority groups, forest fringe inhabitants, mobile and migrant workers and new forest settlers in remote areas face the highest risks of malaria in the country. HPA collaborates with a vast network of community volunteers in rural and hard-to-reach areas to respond to the malaria endemic, and increase equal access to prevention, testing and treatment for malaria. In 2023-24, HPA’s team reached people across 400 villages, 63,000 people were tested for malaria, and all reported cases received treatment. Help us ensure the right to health care for all! #HealthJustice #TeamHPA25
Ethiopia
I’m running the London Marathon to raise funds for Health Poverty Action’s work in Ethiopia, where the climate crisis has led to severe droughts, and combined with the recent conflict has led to high food insecurity, and disease outbreaks. HPA’s mobile health teams provide essential health care and basic supplies to 25,000 people displaced by conflict, working tirelessly to address water shortages and support maternal health. #HealthJustice #TeamHPA25
Vietnam
Health Poverty Action brings healthcare to Vietnam’s remote communities, where physical distance prevents access to essential health care services. HPA’s malaria outreach teams tested 76,438 suspected cases and referred those positive for treatment. Join me as I run the London Marathon 2025 to support their mission to eliminate malaria and improve healthcare access for marginalised communities. #HealthJustice #TeamHPA25
